Thompson, 25, was designated for assignment on January 19, the Yankees announced.
The club opted to do so to sign right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver to a one-year contract.
The former first-round pick was on the Yankees for less than three weeks, as Thompson was snatched off waivers on January 4.
Thompson’s set to be with his fifth team in the past few months.
He started 2023 with the Texas Rangers before moving to the Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds, Yankees, and now Twins.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans were disappointed his time was so short-lived in New York.
“The Bubba era is over,” one wrote, with a sad face emoji.
“Bubba Thompson Yankee legend,” a second joked.
“Not Bubba, man,” another added in disbelief.
“I’m done with this team,” a fourth quipped.
Thompson batted .170 in his 37 games for the Rangers at the major league level in 2023.
In 2022, his first making a plate appearance in the majors, he hit .265 through 55 games.
He has one home run and 13 RBIs in his two seasons in the MLB.
Thompson and the Twins will open their 34th Spring Training season at the Lee County Sports Complex in 2024.
The full squad will have their first workout on February 18.
Minnesota plays its first Spring Training game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on February 24.
