Soto is currently a free agent after spending the past year with the Yankees.
The New York Yankees have upped their contract offer to Juan Soto[/caption]He is one of the MLB’S top names.
And New York chiefs are desperate to cling onto him.
Soto played a key role in the Yankees reaching their first World Series since 2009.
And although they eventually lost to the LA Dodgers, Yankees fans were delighted with his stellar return in 14 games.
Now, a host of teams are eager to snap up Soto.
The Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox and Blue Jays are all thought to have made offers.
The New York Post reckons some teams could be prepared to go over $600m with their contract offer.
The current record is Shohei Ohtani’s $700m deal with the Dodgers.
And the Yankees have reportedly now upped their offer to Soto in a bid to keep him, with additional reports claiming they could also hit the $700m mark.
However, the beaten World Series finalists are not putting all their eggs in one basket.
It’s reckoned that they have held talks with a number of other big-name free agents.
Corbin Burnes is one of the names on the Yankees’ list.
While they also fancy the look of Max Fried among others.
It now remains to be seen where Soto plumps for, with the Dominican apparently hoping to bag a long-term contract.
And the Yankees are also said to have included opt-outs in their contract offer to him.
