THE NEW YORK YANKEES have opted against firing head coach Aaron Boone despite a disastrous World Series defeat.
The Yankees came up short against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who clinched the series in five games on Wednesday.

That led to intense criticism towards New York coach Boone, 51, and his position came under fire.
According to SNY, however, the California native is expected back as the team’s manager next year.
The same source adds that the Yankees hold a contract option for Boone in 2025.
That means that an extension could follow during the offseason.
Furthermore, Boone would likely have to win at least two rounds during the postseason to keep his job with the Major League Baseball franchise.
The American head coach came under fire for various reasons, such as the fact his star player Aaron Judge hit just .222 in the World Series and an even-worse .184 overall in the postseason.
Boone was also criticised for his decision to play Nestor Cortes in the 10th inning of a high-leverage Game 1.
The Yankees boss turned to Cortes on the mound even though he hadn’t pitched since September 18.
And his decision backfired as his player allowed a walk-off Grand Slam to Freddie Freeman.
But that was viewed by Yankees chiefs as a “close decision that could have gone either way”.
